What Is an S Pass?
- The S Pass is issued to mid-skilled foreign employees in Singapore earning at least $3,150/month (as of 2025) with acceptable qualifications. To renew an S Pass, both the employer and employee must meet the latest Ministry of Manpower (MOM) criteria.

When to Renew an S Pass?
- You can renew your S Pass up to 6 months before the expiry date.
- Renewal should be submitted at least 1 month before expiry to allow time for processing.
- Late submissions may lead to pass cancellation or worker repatriation.

Renew S Pass - FAQ
From 1 Sep 2022 for new applications
From 1 Sep 2023 for renewals
All (except financial services)
- Earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $3,000. (increases progressively with age, up to $4,500 for those in mid-40s)
- Have a degree or diploma. MOM may consider technical certificates, such as courses for qualified technicians or specialists. The certification should require at least 1 year of full-time study.
- Have relevant work experience.
Financial services
- Earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $3,500. (increases progressively with age, up to $5,500 for those in mid-40s)
- Have a degree or diploma. MOM may consider technical certificates, such as courses for qualified technicians or specialists. The certification should require at least 1 year of full-time study.
- Have relevant work experience.
WorkPass Pte Ltd – Your Appointed MOM Licensed Employment Agent (EA)
Up to 6 months before pass expires, you can start renewing. You must renew your card before it expires.
Up to three years.
Note that if the passport is valid for less than three years, the duration granted will only be up to one month before the passport’s expiry date.
MOM cost $100 per S Pass renewal
Renewing S Pass using EP Online takes about 3 weeks in most cases.
Important Notes!
Remember to apply for S pass renewal as soon as possible. You will not lose the remaining days on your current pass if you renew early. The renewed pass’s duration will begin when the current pass expires.
You must apply for a new pass if you miss the deadline.
The qualifying salary criteria for S Pass renewal is at least $2,500 a month. Older, more experienced applicants need higher salaries to qualify.
To renew an S Pass:
- The pass holder has to meet the existing eligibility requirements.
- The pass holder’s passport must be valid for at least 7 months.
- You must have an adequate S Pass quota for your industry.
If your S Pass renewal is approved, you must:
- Print the In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter. It is valid for a period of 60 days.
- To obtain the pass, follow the instructions in the IPA.
These steps must be completed before the S Pass expires.
- Note: If the new S Pass is issued after the current one has expired, there may be levy penalties or an overstaying fine, or both.
- Throughout this time, you must continue to pay the levy.
The S Pass will start when the current pass expires.
After the pass is issued, print and check the notification letter to see:
